Man Arrested For Assaulting Officer, Another Man At Long Island Marina, Police Say

A man was arrested on Long Island for allegedly resisting arrest and injuring an officer in the process.

The incident took place in Oyster Bay around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Nassau County Police Department officers responded to a 911 call for a disturbance at the Theodore Roosevelt Marina located at 5 Bay Ave. 

Upon arrival, it was determined that Omar Romerobulnes, age 33, address withheld, was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman and a physical altercation with a man at the scene, police said. 

Police said Romerobulnes proceeded to punch the man, causing pain and physical injury.

Officers attempted to place Romerobulnes under arrest and he resisted, refusing to comply with verbal commands, police said.

Romerobulnes acted violently and combative while resisting arrest and caused an injury to an officer, police said.

Both the officer and Romerobulnes were transported to nearby hospitals for assessment and treatment.

Romerobulnes was charged with:

  • Two counts of assault
  • Harassment
  • Obstructing a governmental administration
  • Resisting arrest

He will be arraigned on Monday, Oct. 10, in Hempstead.
